  • Upcoming Releases & Events

  • For those in the know...we code all winter. We sure did this year and in June we will be at WWDC to announce the fruits of our labor. In June we will release Casper Suite 7. In this release we've continued to build on our tradition of unmatched functionality and ease of use. We've added Usage Management, native Adobe CS4 support, Managed Preferences, the ability to partition drives at imaging time including support for Apple's Boot Camp, added directory services support, iPhone deployment and asset management and much more. If you are a Casper Suite customer, please stay tuned for more information next month on receiving your upgrade. For a quick recap of these features please have a look at our New in 7 product sheet.

We are pleased to announce our newest addition to the JAMF Software line. Imaging Suite is the first standalone, enterprise-level imaging tool, commercially developed and supported, to offer a complete range of dedicated features to maintain all of an organization's Macintosh imaging requirements. The components of the Imaging Suite are the same tools we've continuously developed since 2002 and are now being broken out of the full Casper Suite for the first time. In June we will begin a public beta of the Imaging Suite. Stay tuned for a special edition of JAMF Nation next week for more details.

Pricing and additional details, including live demos, will be available on both Casper Suite 7 & the Imaging Suite at WWDC. We will be hosting a number of events this year including two Lunch & Learn Sessions, two Open Labs, and our National User Group. This is a great opportunity to get hands on with our new products, meet old friends, and connect with other users. So please join us this year for another great WWDC. A complete lineup and more information on our events can be found on the WWDC page of our website. All of our events are free, but you must register to attend. See you there!

  • Support from Support

  • Have you ever done an application search for "Microsoft" in your JSS and found multiple applications that you haven't used or even heard of? Parsing through these, while looking for a specific application title, can be time consuming and frustrating. Suppressing Applications can be very helpful in this scenario.

  • In your JSS, if you navigate to the Admin Tab >> Inventory Options >> Suppress Applications, you can see the list of applications that have been detected in your environment. From this interface you can suppress any application that you do not need to see when viewing inventory information. Applications that have been suppressed are still submitted and stored in your database, but are hidden from view. If you would ever like to see the applications that are suppressed, you can search for a computer, and when you click "Details" you can then click "Show Suppressed Applications" to see everything on a machine by machine basis. Changes that you make to Suppressed Applications will not only apply to Computer Details, but Inventory Application Searches, Custom Reports and PDF Reporting.

  • For more information on configuring Inventory Preferences, including suppressing applications, see the chapter titled 'Inventory Options' in the Casper Suite Documentation.

  • Many of our regular JAMF Nation readers are not yet users and are keen to learn about our solutions, or to discover how to best support Macs in their organization. While we have a number of resources online such as our PDF Library, Media Library, Knowledge Base, and Mailing List, we know that nothing beats a live demo. However, making time for a full overview can be difficult. We understand the challenge of coordinating all the individuals for a first glimpse of a product so we've scheduled a weekly live demonstration every Monday at 2pm CDT (-6 GMT).

  • To register for any of these events visit our Events calendar and select the date you'd like to participate and register. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to the opportunity to share our solutions with you.

  • Join our Support Mailing List! The lists often contain discussions regarding problems encountered by other Casper administrators and their resolutions. This free service is available to customers and non-customers via subscription and includes both the Casper Suite and Composer mailing lists.
